Fels Point Hotel to make Friday 13th November lucky for Kerry charity

CHARITY organisations in Kerry are being offered an opportunity to raise much needed funds by becoming the designated charity of the four-star Fels Point Hotel, Tralee in 2010.

However, it will be the public who will decide which local charity will benefit from the initiative and the result will be announced on Friday November 13th.

The General Manager at Fels Point Hotel, Thys Vogels said: “We would like to become a partner to a charity but with so many out there, it’s difficult to choose just one. In light of this we are asking members of the public to choose one for us.”

“In Kerry alone, there are well over 100 charities and over the past three years, many of them have approached us for cash sponsorship, financial contributions and assistance in staging events or meetings at the hotel,” he said.

National charities will be considered as long as they have a Kerry-branch which will benefit entirely from being the charity partner of Fels Point Hotel. Taken into consideration also, will be Kerry residents who may benefit directly from the services provided by the chosen charity, regardless of where it is located (eg: Crumlin Children’s Hospital, Organ Donors, etc).

Charities will have a four-week window of opportunity from Monday October 19th to Friday November 13th to lobby their supporters and members to vote for them at www.felspointhotel.ie/charity or by filling out an entry card in the hotel.

One lucky charity will receive an initial cash donation of €1000. In addition they will have free use of the large function room, the Riverview Suite, for two fundraising events, €500 off the use of bedrooms in the hotel and, subject to availability, the prospect of collecting money from patrons using the Hotel car park during the Rose of Tralee International Festival in 2010.

Organisers of the various eligible charities are invited to reference www.felspointhotel.ie/charity from their own websites or alternatively, distribute the entry cards to their members and friends. These are available in the Fels Point Hotel reception.

The lucky Kerry charity will be announced live on Deirdre Walsh’s Talkabout Programme on Radio Kerry on Friday 13th November.
