| Press release Issued Tuesday 1st December 2009 EMBARGO 5pm, Wednesday 2nd December 2009 Tralee company creates jobs by winning major cleaning contract with Dunnes Stores ABC Cleaning, Tralee has won a major contract with Irish retail giant Dunnes Stores that will see the number of outlets it services increase from four to 16. The company is now responsible for the cleaning requirements of Dunnes Stores outlets in Galway (6), Clonmel (3), Tipperary town (1), Nenagh (1), Rathdowney (1), Portlaoise (1), Mullingar (1). ABC also services two Dunnes Stores outlets in Tullamore, including the store on Church Road in the town which was recently unveiled as the only retail in store in Ireland to pass the European Cleaning Standards, both inside and outside the store. Breeda Hurley, who along with her husband Sean established ABC Cleaning in 1995, said: “In the 12 months from October 2008, the family-run business has bucked the national trend by managing to increase its part-time workforce from 150 to 240 people. We’ve remained optimistic during these challenging times but by working-hard as a family and as a team, we can now see light at the end of the tunnel.” The family-run business now has cleaning contracts in much of Ireland and there is growing confidence that ABC will branch out to the whole country in the near future. ABC Cleaning has a reputable list of clients for whom the highest cleaning standards are not only essential, but a legal requirement. Among these are the Institute of Technology Tralee, The Garvey Group, Rockwell College in Co Tipperary and 11 Boylesports betting shops in the region. ABC Cleaning’s portfolio of clients includes many schools, medical centres and crèches. “We recently joined forces with Peter McDermott who is well known in the hotel sector and his investment in ABC, as a partner, demonstrates a confidence in growth in the service industry,” said Breeda Hurley. “The fact that we now service the cleaning requirements of 16 Dunnes Stores outlets is a testament to our hard-working staff who demonstrated great loyalty and commitment during the past 12 months when serious decisions had to be made,” she added.
