Dáithí Ó Sé to be Chairman of Judging Panel for Rose of Tralee
KERRY native and much acclaimed TV celebrity Dáithí Ó Sé has been chosen to be the Chairman of the judging panel for this year’s Rose of Tralee which celebrates 50 years in August.
The TG4 presenter was a member of last year’s panel, chaired by fellow Kerryman Sean Kelly, which selected Aoife Kelly (Tipperary) as the 2008 Rose of Tralee.
“I am honoured to be a part of the judging team for this year’s Rose of Tralee Selection. Two years ago I was involved in the Regional Final judging panel and of course I really enjoyed being part of the overall Festival experience last year,” said Dáithí.
Joining Dáithí Ó Sé on the five-person panel will be Mary Kennedy (RTÉ) who returns for a second year, Adi Roche (Chernobyl Children’s Project International), Capt Mike Edgeworth (Pilot Training College) and the first Rose of Tralee, Alice O’Sullivan.
Communications Manager for the Rose of Tralee International Festival, John Drummey, said: “It is an honour to have such an esteemed group of people taking the unenviable responsibility for choosing the next Rose of Tralee and we wish them the very best of luck.”
The Rose of Tralee International Festival will run from the 21st to the 29th of August with the selection nights taking place on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th. Both nights will be televised live on RTÉ One.
