HOPE springs eternal in the 2011 Rose of Tralee, Tara Talbot, who is delighted to announce that she will be entering into a charity partnership with the Hope Foundation.

The General Manager of the Rose of Tralee International Festival, Oliver Hurley, welcomed the commencement of the link with a dedicated international charity such as HOPE who work with street and slum children in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India.

“HOPE funds and operates over 60 projects by reaching out to those most forgotten; offering protection, healthcare, nutrition, education, rehabilitation and a family for life. Last year the 2010 Rose of Tralee, Clare Kambamettu became the charity’s Patron and like Clare, Tara Talbot will travel to Kolkata in October to see first-hand how HOPE works to free children and poor families from lives of pain, abuse, poverty and darkness.”

Every Rose of Tralee plays a key Ambassadorial role throughout the world and this provides the perfect opportunity for various charities to benefit from profile generated from her various engagements. The Rose of Tralee International Festival is currently in partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland, 1Life and the HOPE Foundation.

On November 25th, soon after she returns from her visit to Kolkata, Tara will take part in the Hope Foundation’s first ever national day, entitled A Day of Hope: 1 Day – 1 Bar – 1 Child which will be run in conjunction with Butlers Chocolates.

Schools and companies are invited to come on board and buy a Butlers HOPE bar of chocolate for only €2 and in doing so, help HOPE help the street and slum children who desperately need help. All money raised on the day will go towards helping the Street and Slum Children of Kolkata. One bar of chocolate sold could immunize a child for life threatening diseases.
