THE search is on to find the King of the Ring in Kerry as the countdown has begun to the main sporting event of the year – The Ultimate Warrior Fight Night at the Brandon Conference Centre, Tralee on Saturday 29th October.

Presented by Tralee-based multiple world champion, David O’Sullivan who runs the Champion Thai Club, the event will see a number of fighters enter the ring for their first ever bouts.

“The most entertaining nights in sports are when local guys are competing in their own home towns and our fighters have been training for weeks ahead of their bouts with fighters from Tralee, Killarney, Dublin and Cork. It will be a full contact event and it’s the first competition of its kind ever staged in Kerry,” said David O’Sullivan.

David O’Sullivan has encouraged the general public to come out and support the event which will also feature “White Collar” fights to raise money for The Open Arms Suicide Prevention Project. These bouts will see representatives from John Mitchells taking on opponents from Austin Stacks and members of Park FC going toe-to-toe with a soccer counterpart from Classic FC.

“Each fight will be marshalled by professional referees and judges while the fighters’ safety will be ensured through the presence of a Doctor and ambulance. The venue will come alive to a Las Vegas-style atmosphere with the Emerald Elvis directing proceedings for the evening. The boxers will enter the ring under flashing lights and to their chosen music soundtracks. Sizzle & Stomp, the winners of Kerry’s Got Talent will perform on the night,” he said.

The Champion Kickboxing, for children and the Champion Muay Thai Kickboxing Club, for adults is located in the Monavalley Industrial Estate, Tralee and it boasts a strong membership comprising men, women and children.

The majority of the members, approximately 90%, have joined with a view to building their self-esteem and general fitness through the Ladies Cardio Fitness programme, Ladies Kick Fit and Champion Kickers for children. The remaining 10% of the members enjoy the workout but also the ring-fighting experience through the Muay Thai Kickboxing.

The Ultimate Warrior Muay Thai Fight Night will start at 7pm in the Brandon Conference Centre, Tralee. Tickets are €10 for children, €15 for students and €20 for adults and they are available from the Abbey Inn and Joe O’Brien’s Barber Shop, Ashe Street, Tralee as well as on the door on the night.

The event is sponsored by - Paraffin Store, Abbey Court, Manor West Tralee, McQuires Butchers, Tralee, The Abbey Inn, Tralee, Joe O Brien Barbershop, Tralee, HP Nutrition, Killarney, Shea-De Essentials On-Line Store Tralee, La Scala Restaurant, Tralee.
