| THERE won’t be douze points for the winner of the Christie Hennessy Song Competition Live Final in the Brandon Hotel next Saturday night (12th October) there will be a cheque for €1000 from Holiday Tralee and IMRO. Admission to the event is FREE and it is one of the main focal points of the Celebration of Christie Hennessy from October 12 to 15 in Tralee. The Chairman of Holiday Tralee, Padraig McGillicuddy, said: “It is a privilege to be associated so closely with the 2011 Celebration of Christie Hennessy in his native Tralee. Holiday Tralee is extremely happy to be involved in promoting another entertaining event on the ever-growing local festival calendar. It is crucial for the continued development of Tralee that we support events that have the potential to bring people and business to the town.” Ten finalists from across Ireland will perform their original compositions and the overall winner will receive €1000. A recording session with top producer, Rob Burke, at Windmill Lane Recording Studios in Dublin, will also be given to one artist from The Song Final or The Troubadour Club. One of Tralee’s great singer-songwriters, Francie Conway will be presenting the show. Mickey Harte will perform his new single Time which is due for release the 28th of October in association with Swerve Music and one lucky visitor to the event will win a Cort guitar from a free raffle. The Christie Hennessy Song Competition will get underway at 9pm on Saturday 15th October in the Brandon Hotel.
