| FOOD never looked so good or had such ‘universal’ appeal as it did when Miss Universe Ireland, Aoife Hannon, bathed herself in cheese to launch the 2011 Listowel Food Fair. Just back from representing Ireland at the Miss Universe competition in Brazil, the young supermodel found time to promote Munster’s top food event which will run in her home town from Wednesday 2nd to Sunday 6th November. Committee Chairperson, Michelle O’Connor, said: “There will be a wide range of activities to whet the appetites of food lovers everywhere from cheese making to baking, from beer tasting to Bee Keeping, as this year’s Listowel Food Fair will have something for everyone. Our launch night, on Thursday 3rd November, will be something extra special in the presence of the culinary queen Catherine Fulvio of Ballyknocken House & Cookery School, Co Wicklow. Catherine knows how good food brings family and friends together and you will see her at her best during her entertaining demonstration as she share how to create easy, tasty recipes which still have the wow factor.” A truly community-driven event, the Listowel Food Fair, since it began in 1995, is renowned for promoting local cuisine raising the awareness of the range and quality of Kerry and Irish food products through a variety of seminars, tastings and cookery demonstrations. Keep an eye on www.listowelfoodfair.com and our Facebook page for regular updates from now until the start of the Food Fair on 2nd November. New culinary talent always shines through at the Listowel Food Fair and this year will be no different as nominations are now being sought for awards in a host of categories.
