THERE will be no long faces from Dublin to Ballinasloe or from Clare to Athy next week when the 32 Roses bring a ray of sunshine to many parts of Ireland en route to the Rose of Tralee International Festival.

Communications Manager for the Rose of Tralee, John Drummey, said: “The Rose Tour of Ireland offers the perfect opportunity to showcase the Rose of Tralee as more than a five-day Festival. It also is a very important event on the Irish tourism calendar as the media coverage that the Rose Tour commands is the perfect picture postcard to send to the world.”

In the week from Monday 15th to Friday 19th August the Rose Tour will include visits to Newbridge Silverware – lead sponsors of the Rose of Tralee International Festival, RTÉ to meet Dáithí Ó Sé, Dáil Éireann, The National Museum of Ireland & the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin; County Arms Birr, County Offaly; Dartfield Horse Museum Loughrea, Co Galway; the world famous Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare; the Treaty City of Limerick; and Killarney, Co Kerry – the tourism capital of Ireland - before arriving in Tralee on Friday 19th August. The tour affords the 32 Roses an opportunity to get to know each other before they arrive in the Festival cauldron in Tralee.

The Carlton Hotel Group will play host to the Roses at all stages of the tour in their Dublin Airport Hotel, the new Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown, Carlton Shearwater Hotel Ballinasloe and Carlton Castletroy Hotel in Limerick, while the Carlton Hotel Tralee will be their home for the duration of Festival.

Rory McCarthy, Fáilte Ireland’s Festivals and Events Officer said: “Festivals are an integral part of Irish tourism, and the variety and array of events interspersed into every corner of Ireland give visitors the opportunity to see all that Ireland has to offer. Many serve to promote Ireland as a tourist destination and we certainly hope the ‘Roses’ will return home and promote Kerry and indeed all of Ireland to their friends and family. Fáilte Ireland would like to congratulate the organisers and wish a Céad Míle Fáilte to the Roses.”

The Rose of Tralee International Festival will take place from Friday 19th to Tuesday 23rd August.
