BIRMINGHAM won’t know what’s hit it when Ireland’s most-talked-about bus rolls into town today (Wednesday) for the Best of Britain and Ireland Show at the NEC.

The Kerry Bus on Tour, led by a Scotsman with a Dutch name at the helm, has travelled from London where an invitation was extended to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to visit County Kerry in the southwest of Ireland during her State visit in May.

The Manager of the Kerry Bus on Tour, Thys Vogels, said: “In Kerry we have a phenomenal tourism product with a treasure trove of vacation attractions within an hour of many British airports and ferry ports. Over the next two days, we will be putting this message across to the 2,600 buyers who will be attending the Best of Britain and Ireland Event. Now that we’ve completed a major event in front of more than 100,000 people at the St Patrick’s Festival in London, we must direct our focus towards the trade sphere where deal-making decisions are made.”

County Kerry attracts one in five British tourists to Ireland each year and is very dependent on the British market. The Best of Britain & Ireland Travel Trade Forum provides an ideal opportunity for tourism businesses in Kerry, the Tourism Capital of Ireland, to engage with overseas travel trade operators and increase its market share.

Over the coming weeks the Kerry Bus will act as a mobile Irish Tourist Office. The aim of the tour is to attract additional British tourists to Ireland. It will visit an array of major well-attended public events from London to Liverpool and Birmingham to Manchester.
