| AN INVITATION is to be handed in to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle during London’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations this weekend asking Queen Elizabeth to come to Kerry as part of her State visit to Ireland in May. It will be presented on behalf of the Kerry Tourism Industry who have begun a major promotional campaign in England and Wales aimed at attracting more visitors to Ireland. “Queen Victoria was the last British Monarch to visit Kerry over 150 years ago and it was that trip that sparked the beginning of international tourism as we know it today. County Kerry attracts one in five British tourists to Ireland each year and is very dependent on that market. Kerry is Ireland’s only Kingdom and a trip to Kerry by Queen Elizabeth as part of her State visit would have a massive positive impact on both the local and national economy,” said Thys Vogels the Kerry On Tour Manager. Over the coming weeks the Kerry Bus On Tour of Britain will act as a mobile Irish Tourist Office. It will visit an array of major well-attended public events from London to Liverpool and from Cardiff to Manchester.
