| ICONIC tourism landmarks in seven counties will provide perfect welcoming backdrop to the beginning of an iconic event – the official tour of Ireland by the Roses travelling to this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival. Communications Manager for the Rose of Tralee, John Drummey, said: “The Festival is a very important event on the Irish tourism calendar and the media coverage of the Rose Tour is the perfect picture postcard to send to the world. It also gives the 32 Roses an opportunity to get to know each other before they arrive in the Festival cauldron in Tralee.” In the week from Monday 16th to Friday 20th August the Rose Tour will include visits to Dáil Éireann, Kilmainham Gaol & Guinness Storehouse in Dublin; Birr Castle in County Offaly; Garbally Lawns in Ballinasloe, Co Galway; the world famous Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare; the Treaty City of Limerick; and the e-town of Tarbert in Co Kerry before arriving in Tralee. Newbridge Silverware are the lead sponsors of the Rose of Tralee International Festival and the Roses will be treated to a tour of the Museum at their County Kildare showroom on Monday 16th August. The following day, the Roses will meet the new host of the TV selection, Dáithí Ó Sé, at RTÉ. The Carlton Hotel Group will play host to the Roses at all stages of the tour in their Dublin Airport Hotel, Carlton Shearwater Hotel Ballinasloe and Carlton Castletroy Hotel in Limerick, while the Carlton Hotel Tralee will be their home for the duration of Festival. On Thursday 19th August, the Roses will meet their Escorts for the first time in Limerick at the Carlton Castletroy Hotel. However, neither the Roses nor the Escorts will discover who they have been paired with until they arrive in Tralee on Friday 20th August.
