The names of the five people who have been recruited to carry out the most difficult job in Ireland this August have been released to the public. It’s the Judges who will select the 2010 Rose of Tralee.

RTÉ Presenter, Mary Kennedy will return for her third year in the role along with a lady who has been through the Judging process at the Festival, albeit at the other side of the table, Róisín Egenton, the 2000 Rose of Tralee.

The Communications Manager for the Rose of Tralee, John Drummey, said: “The ladies will be joined by three gentlemen who all share a passion for flying. Captain Mike Edgeworth, CEO of the Pilot Training College and The Shemburn Group returns as the Chairman of the Judging Panel. He is an experienced corporate jet pilot with a lifelong passion for aviation, not unlike his colleagues Michael Kearney, CEO of The Carlton Hotel Group and Pádraig McGillicuddy, Chairman of Holiday Tralee who are both keen helicopter enthusiasts.”

The Judges will meet the 32 International Roses for the first time on Friday 20^th August and over the course of the following few days, they will conduct individual and group interviews with all the contestants. The Judges will also accompany the Roses and their Escorts to many of the entertainment events planned for Tralee during the Festival.

“It is not surprising that the decision usually goes right down to the wire, especially when the Judges are faced with the unenviable task of choosing one out of the 32 wonderful Roses to become the Rose of Tralee. Ultimately they must select who they believe will best represent the Festival, Tralee, Kerry and Ireland on an international stage,” said John Drummey.

The 2010 Rose of Tralee International Festival will take place from Friday 20^th to Tuesday 24^th August. The 2010 Rose of Tralee will be announced live on RTÉ 1 Television on Tuesday 24^th August.
