Kerry Airport, has with deep regret, announced it is seeking 20 redundancies from its staff of 65.

Notice has been issued to staff informing them of the position and that the proposed redundancies will be effective from 4th Feb 2011. Discussions on the proposals are underway between staff representatives and management.

The Chairman of Kerry Airport, Denis Cregan, said: “This action is necessary to safeguard the Business in the medium term and to protect the remaining jobs. It has been caused by passenger reductions on the Dublin route and the decision of Ryanair to discontinue the current PSO Contract. We regret the necessity for such action but it is considered unavoidable in the present circumstances.

On a positive note to start the New Year, Kerry Airport is delighted to announce that from March 2011, Ryanair will be resuming a twice weekly service to the popular sun destinations Faro in Portugal and Alicante in Spain. These flights are now bookable from www.ryanair.com

Kerry Airport will also continue to service regular flights to and from London Stansted, London Luton, Frankfurt Hahn and Manchester, as well as the daily flights to and from Dublin.

The Board and Management of Kerry Airport would like to sincerely thank the staff for their loyal service over the years and to thank them for being an integral element in creating and building the Business to date. Kerry Airport looks forward to being able to reverse these events in the future.
