CHRISTMAS 2010 at Kerry Airport will be busier than it was last December with overseas traffic up 14% on last year.

16,500 passengers are expected to arrive into Ireland through the terminal at Kerry Airport in December from London Luton, London Stansted, Frankfurt-Hahn and Manchester, representing an increase of 2,000 people compared to December 2009.

The Financial Controller, Basil Sheerin, said Kerry Airport comes to life during this time of year: “We are delighted to be able to offer passengers the opportunity to fly directly into the county at Christmas, when families come together in Festive spirit. The proximity of the airport to a large of towns and villages throughout Kerry means passengers can enjoy the holidays in the comfort of their own homes within a short time-frame. Our good track record when responding to adverse weather conditions has been excellent over the past number of years, as was again proven recently.”

He said that both Ryanair and Aer Arann continue to offer great value on their respective routes through Kerry in the run-up to Christmas and intending passengers should check out their current fare prices. Parking charges at Kerry Airport as they are cheaper than other airports. It only costs €35 to park a car at Kerry Airport for eight days compared to €49 for seven days in other airports and there are over 660 car park spaces available at Kerry Airport.

“Kerry Airport will continue to operate up to Christmas Eve before closing on Christmas Day and re-opening again on St Stephen’s Day, December 26th. We would like to thank all our customers, passengers and staff for their continued goodwill and support throughout the year and we wish them all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” said Basil Sheerin.
