| 25 YEARS of magical photo memories from CBS Primary School Tralee are to be sold to mark the end of their 50 year celebrations at Clonalour and to raise money for the school as it move forward into the next 50 years. Denis Coleman, the principal of CBS Clonalour, said: “The photographs that graced the walls of the school corridors from 1980 until 2005 can now find a place on the walls or mantelpieces of homes of the men who featured in each picture. These are photos that Mums and Dads never had of their boys and until now, a visit to the school was the only way of seeing the pictures and as the boys became teenagers and men, the photos are all we have to remind them and their families of their school days. Christmas is coming and we believe these wonderful images would make an ideal gift for a past pupil, their parents or families and in the process, raise some much needed funds to help the school meet the financial challenges that are ahead. The photos will be available from www.johndrummey.ie.” The pictures, where possible, have been digitally restored to the earlier glory. The catalogue is a treasure trove of must-have mementos for Mums and Dads of boys who attended CBS Clonalour during the 25 years from 1980 to 2005. It contains photos of Confirmation days in 6th class, the school concerts which were renowned throughout the town and county, the sporting prowess of young budding athletes, many of whom went on to become superstars and much more. “One former pupil, John Drummey who is a nationally acclaimed broadcaster and communications consultant has worked closely with the school over the past 18 months and the photos will be available to purchase through his own website www.johndrummey.ie. So many boys attended the school during the 25 years from 1980 to 2005 it has not been possible to identify everyone who is featured in the photographs. Therefore, I would encourage any past pupils or their relatives to visit the photo-shop on John’s website to find the photo relevant to that boy. Then order the photo in time for Christmas,” added Denis Coleman. John Drummey has also produced an audio documentary CD in which the class of 2010 researched and interviewed many of the boys who first came to the school when it opened 50 years ago in 1960. The CD features well known people such as former Tánaiste Dick Spring, All-Ireland winning captain for Kerry Ger Power, RTÉ’s Southern Editor Pascal Sheehy and the first female teacher at CBS Patsy Lynch. Anyone who wishes to order any photos from the catalogue can do so by going to www.johndrummey.ie and follow the easy step by step instructions. The website and photo retail facility was designed by Tralee web developer, David O’Donoghue – www.davidodonoghue.ie.
